The Knight Harriers competed in the Marion Regional Saturday morning at Indiana Wesleyan University. The story of the morning was Braden Sweet and his record breaking performance. In a literal neck and neck finish, Braden took 1st place by one 10th of a second, nudging out Bellmont’s Deion Guise (15:48.3) and setting a new Southwood School Record of 15:48.1. Southwood’s record has previously been set by B.J. Needler in 1998 who ran a 15:49 at the Semi-State meet then held at Manchester High School. Braden was the reigning Regional Champion and will advance to Semi-State next Saturday held at Huntington University.

Also competing for the Knights were key team members Casey Boardman, Cayden Prickett, and Landon Mitchell. The team was missing their 3rd man, Jacob Marlow, due to illness. Casey finished 59th in 18:34; Cayden rolled in with a season best time of 19:04, placing 72nd; and Landon set a new PR of 19:36, finishing in 79th. Rounding out scoring for the Knights was Devin Danzy in 85th place. Brayden Smith also represented the Knights at the Regional Championship.
