The varsity Southwood Knights baseball team got their first win of the young season against the Mississinewa Indians on Friday. There was plenty of offense in this game. The Knights grabbed the lead early in the top of the first, but the Indians struck back in the bottom to tie the game. Southwood took the lead again in the second before seeing that lead disappear to a thundering second inning from Mississinewa. Heading to the top of the fourth, the Knights trailed 8-4, but a 6 run fourth by Southwood put them ahead, and they would not relinquish the lead again. On a night when all ten players recorded at least one hit, the charge was led by Carson Rich going 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Joey Bland did not start but entered the game in the third inning and finished 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Every other player recorded a hit. On the mound, Carson Rich started the game, but struggled to finish the second inning. Carson gave up 6 runs, but only one earned run. Tristin Hayslett entered the game in the third and pitched 4+ innings giving up 4 runs on 4 hits. Cameron Ball entered the game in the 7th inning and was able to close the door for the save. The Knights will be back in action on Monday when they host Madison-Grant
