The Southwood Knights varsity won a thriller on Wednesday evening. The Knights took a 5-2 lead into the sixth inning, but the Braves would tie the game with 3 runs in the frame. Cam Ball entered the game on the mound, and was able to hold Maconaquah scoreless. After a fly out, a base hit, and an error by Maconaquah, the next two Knights drew a walk and a hit batsman to load the bases. Jarrett Craft then came to the plate and delivered a game winning base hit. Carson Rich started on the mound and threw 5 solid innings allowing only 2 runs (both unearned) on 6 hits. He struck out 8 and walked three. Alex Farr then came into the game and gave up 3 runs (all earned) on 4 hits. Knight pitchers on the night struck out 13 batters and walked 3. Offensively the Knights were led by Gabe Lloyd, who went 3 for 4 and ending up a triple away from the cycle. Logan Barley and Cam Ball added two hits. The other two hits were a home run by Carson Rich and the game winner by Craft. The Knights will be back in action Thursday when they take on the Starfires from South Adams.
