The Southwood Knights varsity struggled early against Huntington North on Tuesday. They gave up 5 runs in the first inning on 4 hits and 2 base on balls. Knight pitchers combined to allow only four hits and two runs over the next 5 innings and outscored the Vikings 3-2. Starting on the mound for Southwood was Koby Thomas. He went 4 innings and gave up 6 runs, all earned, on 6 hits. He walked 3 and struck out one. Jarrett Craft came in for the final 2 innings and gave up one run on two hits and one walk. Offensively the Knights were led by Tristin Hayslett. He went 2 for 2 with a double and a walk. Koby Thomas was 1 for 2 with a two run home run and a walk. Mason Yentes and Joey Bland also had hits for the Knights. Southwood will face off with Maconaquah on Wednesday at home.
