Boys Varsity Cross Country · Knight Harriers Move on to Regionals

  Place Points
Southwood High School 4th 140

The Southwood Cross Country team competed in Sectionals Saturday morning at IWU. To advance on to Regionals, it was going to take a full team effort, with everyone on their game. Continuing to lead the way for the Knights, Braden Sweet ran away from the competition, covering the course in a season best time of 16:06 and taking the title of Sectional Champion.

The right to move on to regionals was dependent on the legs of the remaining Knight harriers. Starting in a pack, Casey Boardman, Jacob Marlow, Cayden Prickett, and Landon Mitchell pushed through the 1st mile on each others heels, minimizing the ability of other teams to take position. Casey Boardman finished 32nd in a time of 18:37. Jacob Marlow was quick on his heels, finishing in 35th with a time of 18:57. Cayden Prickett placed 40th in a time of 19:29 and Landon Mitchell was close behind in 44th place with a time of 19:49. Devin Danzy, the Knights 6th man, ran a PR of 20:20 and finished 49th, pushing key scoring opponents further back in the field helping to solidify a regional appearance for the Knights. Skylar Amos also contributed to the team effort at sectional.

The Knights finished 4th overall and will move on to Regionals next Saturday at IWU; Race Time 11:15.
