Southwood Knights JV watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 24-5 loss to Tipton on Thursday. Tipton scored on a walk by A Shelly, a walk by B Euriga, a single by M Culbertson, a walk by S Bradley, a walk by H Montgomery, a walk by K Cruzan, a single by P Golden, a single by R Gibson, and a single by Culbertson in the first inning.

The Southwood Knights JV struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Tipton, giving up 24 runs.

Southwood Knights JV tallied three runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught by Southwood Knights JV was led by Ashley Lengel and Olivia Cummins, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Bradley toed the rubber for Tipton. She lasted five innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out seven.

Aaliyah Douglass got the start for Southwood Knights JV. She went two and a third innings, allowing 20 runs on 13 hits with one strikeout. Erin McGouldrick threw one and two-thirds innings in relief.

Southwood Knights JV tallied six hits in the game. Shantel Crabtree and McGouldrick all managed multiple hits for Southwood Knights JV. Crabtree led Southwood Knights JV with three hits in three at bats.

Tipton tallied 19 hits on the day. Euriga, Culbertson, Gibson, Shelly, Montgomery, and Bradley all managed multiple hits for Tipton. Tipton didn’t commit a single error in the field. Gibson had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
