Braden Sweet and Jacob Marlow represented the Knight Harriers in the Regional Championship Saturday at IWU. Taking advantage of perfect weather conditions for racing, Braden and Jacob both ran away with respectable performances.
After breaking into the 18’s 3 weeks ago, Jacob has consistently run in the low 18’s to finish out his season. In a highly competitive field, Jacob finished his season in 18:29.
Braden ran a strategically smart race from the shot of the cannon. Tucking in behind the top 3 runners through the first 2 miles, he had conserved enough energy to gradually take over the race throughout the 3rd mile and finish as Regional Champion, setting a new PR of 15:51.
As Regional Champion, Braden will be competing in the New Haven Semi-State next Saturday afternoon, held at the PLEX on PFW’s campus.
